A lighter, silkier tallow lotion for daily wear. Rich yellow-orange in color, soft and fragrant on the skin.

Suet on the Lighter Side is our tallow lotion — smooth, fast-absorbing, and made for everyday use.

The base is suet tallow from our 100% grass-fed cattle, blended with organic rosehip seed oil to lighten the texture without giving up the nourishment of pure animal fat. Egyptian chamomile herb is infused into the oils, and we finish each batch with essential oils of citron, neroli, and German chamomile.

The result is a rich yellow-orange lotion with a bright, floral scent. It melts in easily, layers well under clothing, and works for face, hands, and body. Lighter than our whipped and balm tallows — a good one for going out, skincare.

Ingredients: 100% grass-fed suet tallow, organic rosehip seed oil, Egyptian chamomile herb, essential oils of citron, neroli and German chamomile.

A balm is better if you want something more concentrated and long-lasting. It’s firm, a little goes a long way, and it tends to work well for very dry spots, hands, elbows, or nighttime use where you want it to really sit on the skin and seal in moisture.

A whipped tallow is better for everyday use. It’s lighter, spreads easily, and absorbs faster because of the air whipped into it. People usually prefer it for the face or full-body application because it feels less heavy and more “lotion-like” without actually being a lotion.

So in simple terms:

  • Balm = stronger, more protective, targeted use
  • Whipped = lighter, easier, daily moisturizer

Our tallow is grass-fed and finished, free from any chemicals—including pesticides and fertilizers used on pastures!

Tallow (especially grass-fed) is one of the most bio-compatible moisturizers you can put on your skin. It naturally mirrors the structure of human skin oils, which means:

  • your skin recognizes it,
  • absorbs it easily,
  • and uses it effectively.

Rich in vitamins A, D, E, K, tallow is also high in Stearic & Palmitic acid, Oleic acid, and Conjugated Linoleic acid (CLA). Which means it:

  1. Contains skin nourishing fatty acids

Store in a cool, dry place. You do not have to refrigerate, but you can. The cooler you keep it, the harder the consistency will become. 

Always use a clean and dry hand/finger or utensil to avoid contaminating your jar. We reccomend using our tallow within 6 months.

Tallow is very similar in composition to our own oils and sebum, allowing our body to readily absorb it. It is generally non-comedogenic (non-pore clogging). In fact, most of our customers find that it helps alleviate dry skin and breakouts.

As with any new product, we recommend a patch test. Everyone responds differently. 

Yes!

Our Original is just tallow and designed for whole body (external) use. Our other blends can be applied to the face as well, but just know which oils, resins, and herbs you are sensitive to.

Some people find that castor oil, for instance clogs their pores. Or perhaps you are sensitive to essential oils. 

You tell us. 

Our tallow is processed and rendered with the utmost intention and care. Our animals are raised with respect and honor.

You can ensure your jar has had much love poured into it. Plus, the price is well worth the investment when you consider it replaces an entire line-up of synthetic products. 

Skin issues are complex and often related to much more than topical products. With that said, synthetic products do you no favors. 

Many people experience improved skin when switching to tallow. Everybody is different so we recommend a patch test. You may also experience a ‘detox’ period. 

We recommend Original or Clarify Hydrate for acne-prone skin. 

A little goes a long way. You may find your jar lasts weeks to months, depending on how much you apply, of course.

As far as shelf life, we recommend using your product within 6 months, though it will last up to 12 when stores properly. It may begin to smell ‘stale’ as it gets older.

Store in a cool, dry place, out of sunlight. Use clean, dry hands (or an applicator). Keep water out of the jar.
